recall ever going on holiday to somewhere where the base team more than bent over backwards to ensure your holiday was the best. nothing  ever, was too much trouble. jon and i were welcomed like long lost relatives, and paul was made to feel at home immediately.  it was good to meet kevin whilst there, and enjoy a chat over a beer or two. needless to say we'll be back again in the not too distant caught a 56lb carp at the age of 76. we had a great time and the boys there were fantastic nothing was too much trouble for them. the food was excellent full marks to the new cook sam. i would like to thank the boys for looking after my dad they really are the best. stew taxied him back and fore to his swim when he wasn't up to walking charlie and david were always on hand as well. we had a smashing time. if the boss is up to it we might come again next year. all the best john and alan hindley hi rosie, well, what can i say?  how could it be better than last year! well it was.  i beat my pb twice in the space of two days with two different mirrors & after that they just kept coming.  i need a holiday to rest, it was that good. firstly, all the lads were great, they put you at ease as soon as you were picked up from the air port to the time they take you back. stewart was first rate as a cook, fish finder & a good laugh (he will make someone a lovely wife)  tim, the head bailiff, was great & we soon had a good rapport going.  it will be a shame if he is not there next year as i think he is a valuable asset to the lake. charlie & david worked like dogs, as normal, helping people to get on the fish & keeping the lake in tip top order. the second week was just as good with a new bunch of lads - and new staff in the form of chippy dave, paul & alan who were as helpful as the others. all in all, a good time was had by all & i can’t wait until next year to come back to the lake for another blinding good time  - which is assured if you book a holiday at lac chateau cavagnac. last but not least, a special thank you to rosie who organised it all, a lady that makes it all so easy. thank you, mark mooney   hi rosie, just thought i’d drop you a quick email to thank you for squeezing me in at the last minute for last week in cavagnac - had a great time (again) and really didn’t want to reel in and pack up on saturday morning !!! :-( once again, we were treated like royalty - stu's cooking was top of the tree .... and his help out on the lake was great too. tim was superb also – his introduction and tour of the lake upon our arrival put us all at ease and ready to catch!!! i am a bit disappointed that he won’t be there next time though - his hard work before our arrival clearing the weed from the boards was a cracking job - as the fish that mark mooney was having out of his 'newly cleared swim' were absolutely breathtaking - loads between 20 and 30lbs, a 38, a 39 and topped off with a 54lb stunner .... and when we left, mark had 'set up camp' for his second week of cavagnac carping at its best. tim was only too pleased to help me out (as i was travelling alone) in placing my baits and helping me find my clear spots - he truly is / was an asset to nash tackle and only hope that he will be back there when i return in the future !!!! once again, please thank kevin for me also for arranging my return to cavagnac and also to yourself for arranging my flights and making the whole booking process hassle free. i will certainly be recommending nash resorts to all of my fishing friends, and look forward to returning to see all the lads - stu, david, charlie ...  and hopefully tim and kevin !!!! many thanks again, matt doughty     thankyou for a good week on behalf of all us in the judge james group ease of booking and arranging the holiday 10/10. since rosie has been on the scene, the service has been quality. website improving on regular basis. travelling to and from the lake including your transport (not a luxury coach) 10/10 the setting of lake 10/10 positioning of swims 9/10 limited to 20 anglers is sensible if they all spread out. 20 of us in total this week was not a problem apart from the occasional boat traffic to and from the fields peg, some times boats getting close to anglers lines enforcing the rules for the benefit of all 10/10 positioning of bivvies 6/10 our swim involved a good 30 yard run to get to our rods and this does not help the welfare of the fish let alone mine  (this is being addressed, thanks for pointing it out, neil.  none of the other swims have this run!) litter and general tidiness 9/10 all staff 9/10  david and tim in particular were always willing and actually wanted to help you, that surprised us all well done. as most people said though tim could always do with another couple of inches. their attitude was spot on and could not be faulted.   toilets/ showers 10/10 accessible 24/7 and always clean noise 9/10, none during the day at all, a couple of late evenings some noise from the club house but not excessive to the degree of being a nuisance    food 9/10 good all round cooking on site with the option of something different if enough notice given availability of snacks, drinks etc 7/10. possibly a wider range could be offered in the future, including smokes. handling and managing peoples purchasing of bait, drinks etc 10/10 what more is there to say, well done neil james the judge back on the bench monday     josh ford bury st. edmunds suffolk  18 april 2005 my dad and i would just like to share a very special fishing trip with you.  we went to lac chateau cavangnac.  i’m fourteen years old and i went with my dad for a week.  i had been last year in october and we only caught one fish each, but still had a brilliant time. when i went back in april this year, i really wanted to catch a few fish.  on the first night after arriving my dad caught a 22lb common, so i thought we were on to some fish, but then after that, we didn’t catch for the next two nights.  during the fourth day at breakfast i was thinking about moving swim.  i asked my dad and he agreed, only problem was we wanted different swim’s. i made him have a look at my choice and finally he agreed, so we moved. on that first night i hooked into a fish at 5.30am – then about 30 seconds later, my dad also hooked into a fish – so we were playing them at the same time.  dad landed his, but mine was still taking loads of line.  i carried on playing it and then it suddenly came up and i finally netted it after about 50 minutes.  we un-hooked my dad’s fish – it weighed in at 27lb, took photo’s and put it back.  then we went to my fish.  i went to lift it out in the net and i could barely lift it – i had to ask my dad to help.  we laid it on the mat and it looked huge, so we got the weigh sling and scales and it weighed 47.5lb.  i was so happy!  we put it in the sack and went to get people from the lodge for photos.  they came up, took photo’s and i also had one taken in the water.  this was the most amazing fish i had ever seen – it was a really special moment. mr nash was out there at the same time and he came to talk to us for quite a while.  how special is that, kevin nash sitting in my bivvy chatting to me and my and my dad after having caught that wonderful fish, i will never forget it. by the end of the week i had caught that 47.5lb mirror, 26lb common, 26lb mirror and an 18lb mirror.  they were all beautiful fish.  my dad had caught a 30lb common, 27lb common and 22lb common – also nice fish. at the end of the week kevin nash gave me a signed t-shirt saying  “to josh – be lucky – kevin nash” for some good angling and catching the biggest fish of the week i would just like to say that it is a very magical lake with amazing fish.  all the staff there are great people – i really enjoyed myself and i would recommend it to anyone who wants to go to for some great fishing. josh ford     letter from chris hull 24 april, 2005   dear rosie,  just thought i’d drop you a quick note having just returned from a weeks fishing at lac chateau cavagnac.  as this was our first trip to france our expectations were mixed however the whole fishing experience we had last week far exceeded our expectations and we are already talking about a return trip next year!!  the staff working at the lake could not have been more helpful and i would be very grateful if you could pass on our thanks to them.  tim the head bailiff was brilliant at ensuring every aspect of our stay was perfect (except he did struggle a bit with the weather!!), and his team including stuart, david & jean jean were all first class.  nothing was too much trouble for anyone including rowing baits out in the pouring rain to ensure we caught fish!!  everyone in our party caught fish and we all beat our personal bests but we would not have been able to achieve any of this without the input, knowledge and help from the onsite staff.  i have a feeling that our party next year will be slightly larger than three when the pictures are developed so i would be grateful if you could send me a booking form for 2006 and let me know the availability for september /  october /  november as i’m sure we will be booking our return trip very soon!  many thanks,  chris hull and party     demolition derby at lac cavagnac ever dreamt about fishing a lake for the first time and taking it apart?  we have – and we did!  read on. sunday was our first real chance to explore the margin that lay in front of us and our first fish was netted at 6.25am on monday.  in fact, it also happened at 6.26am!  merv (dubbed ‘sly’ by dave jones, nash resorts manager) had a frantic 20-minutes and produced a brace of commons – a 29lb and a 25-pounder.  after a rest, rebait and breakfast delivered to our swim, we looked forward to the rest of the day. tuesday, 4.30am and sly took another common at 20lb in the dark.  this was followed by a 24lb common at 7am.  straight away another 24-pounder came out, this time a hard-fighting mirror.  sly worked hard for those three pre-breakfast fish.  the rest of the day was quiet but that was ok - we needed sleep. wednesday  the door on the nash combat bivvy burst open at 6am, when sly kicked the day off with a 32-pounder.  a mirror from near the boathouse.  not to be outdone, i responded with two commons at 29lb and 35lb. thursday  by now we had both found hot spots, the weather was cooling down and sun was interrupted by occasional showers.  i had an early start at 1am with a common of 32lb.  at 4am, sly caught another 32lb common.  both fish were sacked and tim took photos at first light.  magic! it was raining heavily at 2.30pm when my left hand rod bounced up and down on the pod and line tore off the spool.  seconds later, i hit into a steam train!  another boat job and i knew it was big.  my arm felt like it was going to fall off.  the boat was travelling at a steady speed. ‘more barrels!’ shouted sly – if you’ve seen jaws, you’ll know what he meant. after what seemed like a lifetime, i had her in the net and on the mat.  ‘crikey,’ said sly ‘that’s big.’ (or words to that effect)   as sly lifted the scales, i thought my eyes were deceiving me.  thirty, forty, past forty, fifty, past fifty ’golly,’ i said. ‘55lb!’ celebrations were undertaken in the traditional way, except the second time they threw me in, i took one of them with me….er…..sorry about the camera! sly followed the 55-pounder with a 16lb common.  at 10.15pm i landed a 37lb mirror to equal my previous pb.  wow!  it was 11.20pm, still thursday, and sly put a 26 on the bank, just to finish off big fish day. friday:  a 26lb common – another one on scopex squid.  now known as sly and wes (i’m told that’s from ‘the demolition man’). other french resorts are a hole in the ground compared to this.  lac chateau cavagnac is the traditional carp angler’s paradise. peter (wes) musson may 2005     nigel frear and philip harrison report on their trip to lac chateau cavagnac this was our first trip to france.  we arrived at nash resorts, along with 14 others, to be greeted by the nash team of tim, stuart, david and sandie, who were all extremely welcoming. saturday night was quiet, but on sunday at 8:30am phil caught an 18lb common.   after dinner that evening we put our rods in ready to see what sunday night would throw at us. this is what we caught: nigel – 26lb mirror @ 6:45pm nigel - 29.08lb mirror @ 7:30pm nigel – 25.02lb mirror @ 8:45pm nigel – 19.08lb common @ 5:30am phil – 22.08lb just chilled at the lodge for a couple of hours before going back to our swims and baited up ready for the night.  tuesday afternoon we decided to drop a rod in as it was overcast and it paid off. phil – 13.08lb common @ 12:30pm phil – 18.12lb common @ 2pm nigel – 31.00lb common @ 3pm we had our tea, a beer and a chat and returned to our swim and had: nigel – 31.00lbmirror - @ 7:30pm nigel – 28.08lb mirror @ 7:45pm phil – 28.08lb common @ 7:45pm (we had three runs at the same time but phil lost one of his) nigel – 18lb common @ 10:30pm phil – 28.08lb common @ 11pm nigel – 23lb common @ 11:30pm wednesday phil – 16lb common @ 5:am  we did not fish during the day as it was sunny and hot.  after tea we put our rods out and caught:  phil – 27.10lb common @ 7:45pm nigel – 30.08 common @ 9pm nigel – 29.08 common @ 11pm thursday nigel – 28.08 common @ 3am nigel – 23.00 common @ 6am during the day we decided to have one rod out each, as it was overcast, and we caught: phil – 18.08lb common @ 1pm phil – 21.00lb mirror @ 3:30pm another relaxing dinner in the evening.  we did not catch that evening.  but friday morning: phil – 18lb common @ 1:30am nigel – 29.08lb common @ 5:15am phil – 20lb common @ 6am we had a long chat over breakfast with kevin and dave about rigs.   as it was the last day and overcast we had one rod in each – phil had a 13:08lb common @ 2:30pm. at tea time we had a beer and a good chat with everyone as it was our last evening.  we all got along really well.  our last night’s fishing consisted of: phil – 15.15lb common @ 8:50pm nigel – 21.08lb mirror @ 10:15pm sat am phil – 13.08 mirror @ 12am phil - 21.00 common @ 12:30am  the last three fish of our trip were caught during a thunderstorm!  we caught 41 fish over the week weighing in at a total of 976lb.  we were collected by david in the morning and said our goodbyes to everyone and headed off to the airport for our flight home.  our fishing trip was absolutely brilliant.  the bailiffs were very helpful and the meals superb.  the facilities and equipment were excellent and the fishing was out of this world.  a trip we will never forget. we are hoping to return next year.  thanks: kevin, dave, tim, stuart, david & sandie.   poems by paul ryder  cavagnac carping capers   we’re all sitting here upon the bank hoping that we do not blank and, if we do, will we come back to this lovely lac de cavagnac?  now, all of a sudden, the alarms sing so sweet as i jump quickly to my feet, and i’m bending the rod as a fish pulls back at this lovely lac de cavagnac  as i pull on the rod and turn the reel, as the fish pulls back it’s nice to feel that i may not blank. thank god for that! there’s fish in the lac de cavagnac  the fish is on it, wants to fight. it’s kiting left, it’s kiting right. it takes some line but i’m pulling back. they fight well, these fish at cavagnac now the fish is mine. it’s in the net, a pristine carp but, better yet, it’s a personal best, but there’s one drawback the bailiffs throw you in the lac de cavagnac  paul ryder may 2005   cavagnac crew  i sit watching the ripples on the water as they dance across the lake. i listen to the birds that sing, such a sweet song that they make.  but amidst this calm and tranquil scene is another, oh so true, with the shout of david. ‘where the “f” have you been? and stu! where the “f” have you been, too?  now the voice that shatters the peace and calm comes from the head bailiff - his name’s tim. yet, all in all, he means no harm and you can’t help liking him but he wants to see the guests do well and put fish upon the bank. his advice comes from experience, you can tell, so he’s not just a five foot plank! now there’s one more left to speak of, that’s sandie who does the food, so you can feed up well, without a doubt, and that gets you in the mood. to go back to your swims to sit and dream and watch the ripples flow, till once again all hell breaks loose and, again, tim’s having a go.  paul
