scott henderson guitar site scott henderson, guitarist in tribal tech, is one of the leading player and composer of modern jazz/blues. touring, new releases, anything you need to know about scott henderson, you'll find on this web page. if you don't have a frames-capable browser, take time to read this short summary: scott henderson is clearly one of the premier composer/players in fusion guitar today. his impressive work as a sideman for chick corea elektric band, jean luc ponty and the joe zawinul syndicate proved that point well. raised in south florida, he started to play guitar at age 12, listening to hendrix, jimmy page, ritchie blackmore and blues legend albert king. it wasn't until he began studying music theory at palm beach community college and florida atlantic university that he was introduced to jazz. he formed tribal tech with bassist gary willis in 1985. since then, tribal tech has released eight acclaimed albums. in 1991, he was named by guitar world as the #1 jazz guitarist, and in january 1992, he was named #1 jazz guitarist in guitar player's annual reader's poll. scott henderson first solo blues album "dog party", a welcome retreat to his musical roots, won best blues album of 1994 in guitar player. the second blues album pairs him with legendary vocalist thelma houston. this album, called "tore down house", was released april,97. scott has recorded two brilliant high energy all instrumental fusion album with victor wooten on bass and steve smith on drums. release date for "vital tech tones", was around 9th of june (98), and the new vtt2 was maj (00). tribal tech album #8, was out in jan/feb 1999. this album is called "thick" and finally the new album #9, rocket science was out in 2000
