i was going through some tapes, and i found some wcw tapings i recorded back from 1997. just watching it brought back a lot of memories and nostalgia, what else is there to say. i miss the wcw with a passion, and thanks to the sob vince we will never see that again now that he bought it. i saw wrestlers like, ultimate dragon with sonny onno, mike enus, lex luger, macho man randy savage, diamond dallas page, sting, chris benoit with woman, steve mcmichael, arn anderson, the taskmaster, alex wright, kevin nash, scott hall, harlem heat, buff bagwell, the nwo, scotty riggs. i know most of there music was cheesy but i'm sure we all miss those days, fuck time does fly.
does anyone remember who won the match between buff bagwell and scotty riggs at nwo: souled out 1997?
also, why did the wcw go out of bussiness?

i don't realy know the whole story but i think it was over ratings wars with wwf.and well vince bought wcw and ecw and formed togeter to get a storyline "the alliance" and wel wwf won and wcw went bye bye.but yea wcw was the shit nwo the best stable of all time sorry dx doesn't even come colse to it nwo had over 20 members in its prime dx had what 6 all together "road dogg" jesse james mr.ass hhh hbk x-pac and chyna?so nwo would kill dx any day of the week.

if wcw didnt give away the end of raw every week they might have beat wwe. but the one week where mick foley became champ wcw lost alot of viewers. from that point on it got worse and worse. until ted turner eventually sold it to mcmahon.

actually, wcw was shit. not "the shit." it wasn't really all of the matches all of the time, but it was really run poorly. anyone that thinks wwe is bad right now doesn't remember the last few years of wcw. if you were watching a match from 1997, you were watching something from right before it got really bad. i just read "the death of wcw, " written by bryan alvarez of wrestling observer. it is pretty telling. bischoff and russo ran that company into the ground.

wcw... here is a subject that i can talk about at the table... i read ericbishoffs book, and i followed up on a lot of the wrestlers. wcw was good, because the venues were diffrent. bishoff was filling up malls on the west coast and using universalstudios to tape sat.broadcasts... small spaces filled to the brim with people, some of the time watching flair fight for free...
wwe at the time were filling up stadiums and breaking records for the most packed houses... of cousre then they were the main attraction... things got better when wcw started going on tour across country and in japan later on giving wwe some serious compatition, which for vince, was a good thing.
once both of those companies were in the primetime and well established a dark horse came from philly like a theif in the night... a late night public access station turned me on to ecw... and holy moly if it wasnt the thing both of these guys bigboys were missing... but ecw was filling up highschoolgyms and townhalls. and they were full to the top too!
then ol' vinniemac went and bought the industry, not just companies and factions, but the whole damn show. now things are stale and story lines are repeating them selves.. no longer are the wrestlers performing in tight cramped quarters for free... the wwe goes to arena and arena with guys who get along, guys who don't like each other and performers who risk it all for who knows why? but they do, and we enjoy their abilities to do it week after week. it seems that tna is echoing some of the old rythems with new twists and a lucha libre' <myspace>style</myspace> ring to try and stir up the compatiton again. maybe if wwe were to take the ecwfaction and place it back to those who really apprciated, the small tight packed house, they could easly take over the market... again.
there are some formulas the wwe uses and puts on the shelf for a rainy day... but maybe they need to find something a bit fresher, and not a sixsided ring please....
i miss wcw too, but i miss the realism wcw brought to the table, it became serious business, when bishoff was at the wheel... it was seriousbusiness when paule was running his monster... and there was magic.. it was the little guys vs. the bigdaddy of it all, wwe. im sure we all could put our hats into the ring about ideas, would it change anything? we shall see!

you need to do some more research, i'm afraid. what do you think lead time warner to sell to anyone? vince was the third buyer that tried to get the company. was it a mistake, yeah probably. but wcw was running itself out of business long before wwe made the bid to buy them out. they had a couple of good years, like '94-'97 or '98. but that was it. i enjoyed it too, don't get me wrong, but the people in charge, including bischoff, did not do a good job in the long run.

i went to wcw monday nitro a few times here in denver. the last time was something i will never forget. november 1999....i was 6 rows from the ring on the mother freaking aisle the wrestlers come down. i saw 3 hours of great wrestling and not a lot of talking. the card was more than this but these are the matches i remember...

i gotta agree with you guys. i still don't know how things went so sour for wcw, i guess vince has all the luck in the world. i mean look at it this way, wcw had better storylines, better pay-per-views halloween havoc, starcade, slamboree, world war 3, but on top of that there ppvs werent shit like wwe's. we all know the ending to a wwe pay per view before it's over. wcw was totally different.
does anyone remember in one wcw incident monday night nitro i think it was nash or the giant who got into a limo and then out of nowhere this monster truck comes up and slammed up multiple times against the limo? and then the person who was inside got out bleeding and stuff, you don't see that kind of stuff on wwe, it's all drama and hardly anything wrestling now. chris jericho needs to come back.

im a big jericho fan myself... and yea wcw had really good ppvs... the monster trucks were cool, but i think someone flipped the bill for that... wwe needs to become a bit more interpromotional.. thats what wcw had going for them... the limit less resources that tuner came with...
burke on ghosthunters was cool and cm punk last year(although if you can remember last year ghosthunters did a live halloween show, and ecw had a live show and cm punk was on both within an hour!thats creepy)..

i like wwes chances if vince and turner joined forces... does turner want a wrestling show still? wouldnt vince like the tv time? it would make good pub.... like the bishcoffvsvince, there was a lot stirring going on there...
