nwo souled out 1997- cedar rapids, iowa - the five seasons center
- january 25, 1997

attendance of 5,120
this pay-per-view was billed as an "nwo sponsored
event" with wcw wrestlers participating, as well. the wcw talent came
to the ring without theme music and insulting ring introductions. features
the 1997 "miss nwo pageant", won by an older, obese woman who was given a
bouquet and a toilet seat "throne" to sit on. features wcw wrestlers
taking seats in the crowd, including harlem heat, meng, the barbarian, sister
sherri, steve mcmichael, debra mcmichael, arn anderson, brian knobbs, and
referee randy anderson.
1. masahiro chono pinned chris jericho at 11:08 after the mafia
kick.
2. bubba rogers defeated hugh morrus at 9:03 in a "mexican death
match" when morrus couldn't answer the 10-count after rogers ran him over
with a motorcycle.
3. jeff jarrett pinned m. wallstreet at 9:22 after steve mcmichael
interfered, striking wallstreet with his steel briefcase, and then intimidated
referee nick patrick into making the three-count.
4. "buff" bagwell pinned scotty riggs at 13:51 after the "buff
blockbuster". this marked the debut of bagwell's finishing
maneuver.
5. scott norton defeated dallas page by countout at 9:39 when
page fled the ring after the nwo interfered and offered page "one last chance"
at membership, only to have page hit norton with a "diamond cutter".
6. the steiner brothers defeated wcw world tag team champions
scott hall & kevin nash at 14:43 to win the titles after scott steiner
pinned hall following rick's top rope bulldog.
this title change was nullified the next
evening by wcw/nwo executive eric bischoff due to an unassigned referee (randy
anderson) interfering and making the pin count when nick patrick was knocked
out.
7. wcw u.s. champion eddie guerrero defeated syxx in a ladder
match at 13:48 to retain the title after guerrero clocked syxx with the belt
as both wrestlers were grasping for it.
8. wcw world champion hulk hogan fought the giant to a no-contest
at 11:00 after nwo referee nick patrick refused to count following the giant's
chokeslam on hogan and the nwo interfered and attacked the giant.
the giant chokeslammed nearly the entire
nwo until hogan hit him with a guitar. they then spraypainted the "nwo"
letters on him.

hosted by tony schiavone, bobby heenan, & dusty rhodes
attendance of 5,486
features j.j. dillon and roddy piper making
the announcement that hollywood hogan and sting would fight for the vacant
wcw world title at superbrawl viii. scott hall, who was supposed to
get the superbrawl viii title shot for winning the 1997 world war 3 battle
royal, left the ring in disgust.
1. juventud guerrera, chavo guerrero jr., super calo, and lizmark,
jr. defeated la parka, silver king, psychosis, and el dandy at 9:30
in a "lucha libre" match when chavo pinned psychosis after
a tornado ddt. after the match
la parka attacked his four opponents, as well as el dandy & silver king,
with a steel chair.
2. chris benoit defeated raven in a "raven's rules" match
at 10:36 when raven passed out while locked in the crippler crossface, which
benoit applied after reversing raven's ddt attempt.
after the match, the flock attacked benoit
until dean malenko made the save.
3. chris jericho defeated wcw cruiserweight champion rey misterio,
jr. via submission at 8:22 to win the title after reversing mysterio's top-rope
hurancanrana attempt into the lion tamer.
after the match, jericho destroyed mysterio's
knee with a utility box when the crowd wouldn't stop booing
him.
4. wcw television champion booker t. pinned rick martel at 10:50
after the "harlem hangover".
saturn attacked martel after the match
until booker made the save.
5. larry zbyszko (with dusty rhodes) defeated scott hall (with
louie spicolli) by disqualification at 8:09 when spicolli interfered and
attacked zbyszko as larry had hall locked in a choke sleeper.
after the match, dusty rhodes entered
the ring and attacked zbyszko. he took off his denim shirt and revealed
an "nwo" shirt, and celebrated with spicolli and hall.
6. rick & scott steiner (with ted dibiase) & ray traylor
defeated konnan, "buff" bagwell, & scott norton (with vincent) at 12:20
when scott steiner pinned konnan after the "steiner screwdriver".
7. kevin nash (with hulk hogan & eric bischoff) pinned the
giant at 10:47 after dropping giant on his head during an attempted "jackknife"
powerbomb.
8. bret hart defeated ric flair via submission at 18:06 with
the sharpshooter following a superplex.
9. lex luger defeated randy savage via submission at 7:07 with
the torture rack, despite scott hall and elizabeth's interference.
the nwo attacked luger after the match.
sting made the save, fighting them off and locking hulk hogan in the
scorpion deathlock.
wcw souled out 1999 - charleston, west virginia - the civic center - january
17, 1999
attendance of 10,833
features a "state of wcw address" from wcw president
ric flair. live footage of bill goldberg writing in pain backstage
& holding his knee was shown at the beginning of the show.
chris jericho interrupts a wcw.com chat
session with booker t and challenges him to a match for the
next evening on wcw monday nitro.
1. chris benoit defeated mike enos via submission at 10:34 with
the "crippler crossface".
2. norman smiley defeated chavo guerrero, jr. via submission
at 15:44 with the "norman conquest" after opening the urn of guerrero's "dead"
wooden horse "pepe" and throwing the ashes into his eyes.
3. fit finley pinned van hammer at 7:54 after the tombstone
piledriver.
4. bam bam bigelow pinned wrath at 9:23 after delivering the
"greetings from asbury park".
5. lex luger defeated konan via submission at 9:31 with the
"torture rack" after elizabeth interfered and blinded konan with spraypaint
to the eyes.
6. chris jericho (with ralphus) defeated perry saturn at
11:44 in a "loser wears a dress for 30 days" match after biased referee scott
dickinson pushed jericho on top of saturn after saturn had executed a small
package for the pinfall. as a
result of this loss, saturn was immediately forced to wear a
dress.
7. wcw cruiserweight champion billy kidman defeated juventud
guerrera, psychosis, and rey mysterio, jr. at 14:24 in a "four corners" match
after pinning guerrera following the shooting star press.
8. ric flair & david flair (with arn anderson) defeated
curt hennig & barry windham at 13:56 when david pinned hennig after anderson
interfered and hit curt with a tire iron.
after the match, the new world order came
in and brutalized the flairs.
9. bill goldberg defeated scott hall at 17:44 in a
"ladder/tazer" match, despite interference from disco inferno, after delivering
the spear & the jackhammer to hall, and using the tazer on him.
after the match, bam bam bigelow attacked
goldberg. scott hall got ahold of the tazer and used it on both goldberg
& bigelow.

hosted by tony schiavone, bobby heenan, & mike tenay
attendance of 14,132
pay-per-view buyrate of 0.25
features the first show following vince russo's
removal as head writer/booker for wcw, as replaced by kevin sullivan, mike
graham, and j.j. dillon. features the announcements of bret hart being
stripped of the wcw world title due to post-concussion syndrome, as well
as jeff jarrett being stripped of the wcw u.s. title due to a concussion.
the "triple threat theatre" matches between jarrett/benoit were changed
to billy kidman vs. dean malenko, kidman vs. perry saturn, and kidman vs.
the revolution's mystery partner. the world title match was changed
to sid vicious vs. chris benoit.
features the final appearences of chris
benoit, perry saturn, and dean malenko in wcw.
features new wcw comissioner kevin nash
threatening to make new wcw world champion chris benoit's life a living hell
as the show came to a close.
1. billy kidman defeated dean malenko in a "catch as catch can"
match at 2:11 when malenko went to the outside of the ring.
2. vampiro defeated david flair (with daffney) and crowbar in
a three-way match at 10:28 after delivering the "nail in the coffin" on flair
for the pin.
3. big vito & johnny the bull (with disco inferno)
defeated the harris boys at 9:31 when disco inferno pushed big vito off the
top rope and he landed on top of don harris for the pin.
4. wcw hardcore champion brian knobbs defeated fit finley, meng,
and norman smiley in a four-way match at 6:08 when knobbs pinned smiley after
hitting him with smiley's own riot gear shield.
5. oklahoma pinned wcw cruiserweight champion madusa (with spice)
to win the title at 2:55. during the match, asya came
to ringside and attacked oklahoma.
6. billy kidman pinned perry saturn in a "bunkhouse match" at
10:03 when kidman executed a "face-jam" on his opponent as saturn was attempting
to powerbomb him.
7. booker t. defeated stevie ray by disqualification at 6:29
when the wrestler formerly known as ahmed johnson in the world wrestling
federation interfered. stevie
ray later revealed his new partner's name was "big t", and booker t.'s
replacement in harlem heat.
8. "buff" bagwell defeated dallas page in a "no rules, last
man standing" match at 11:40 when bagwell was able to get to his feet before
the 10-count (and page was not) after page delivered the "diamond cutter"
to him.
9. tank abbot defeated jerry flynn in a "shoot fight rules"
match by knockout at 1:39 after a knockout punch.
10. the wall (the revolution's mystery opponent and new member)
pinned billy kidman in a "caged heat" cage match at 4:59 after catching kidman
coming off the top rope and delivering a chokeslam.
11. kevin nash pinned wcw comissioner terry funk in a "hardcore
match" to win the position of wcw comissioner after powerbombing funk through
three chairs for the pin.
12. chris benoit defeated sid vicious via submission at 14:50
to win the vacant wcw world title when vicious submitted to the "crippler
crossface". arn anderson was the
guest referee for the bout. the title victory was nullified the following
evening on nitro, as anderson explained that vicious' foot was under
the bottom rope when he submitted.
